What is the ISSA Mentoring Program?
A way for new students to receive assistance from current students about topics such as:
-
The IS program in general
-
Choice of courses for the first semester(s)
-
Moving to Tallahassee
-
Becoming more familiar with FSU
-
Work opportunities in the program
We invite all new students and current students to sign-up for the ISSA mentoring program by clicking here.
What are the benefits?
-
Network with people who one day will be working in the same field as you!
-
Earn invaluable service work experience (great for resumes and future employment)!
-
For mentors, help those get started with ease as you have probably already answered the same questions!
-
Share knowledge and learn from each other!
-
Set your own scheduling and communication rules between mentor and mentee!

What is the procedure?
1) At first, both mentor and mentee express interest in becoming a mentor/mentee by taking the current survey.
2) After reviewing the survey results to match mentors and mentees, the ISSA VP of Student Relations contacts both parties and releases the contact preference/information of the mentor to the mentee and vice-versa.
3) The mentor and mentee are now free to introduce themselves, create their own rules for communication and conflict resolution, and discuss topics of their choice.
4) Mentor and mentee are invited to complete a satisfaction survey at the end of the semester in which they collaborated.
